It wasn’t until I started taking a closer look at what I was eating that I really understood the connection between diet and my skin. Like so many of us, I spent years thinking that the answer to glowing skin was found in a great skincare routine—cleansers, moisturizers, serums, you name it. And don’t get me wrong, these things are important. But the deeper I got into wellness, the more I realized that what I put inside my body had a far greater impact than anything I could apply topically.
At first, the idea that my diet could influence my skin seemed a little abstract. I’d always heard about foods that supposedly help your skin, but I didn’t fully believe it until I started experimenting with my own habits. Slowly, I started to realize that the foods I was eating—or not eating—were showing up in my complexion. When I began making more intentional choices about what I was fueling my body with, my skin began to transform.
